An amended law regarding the enlistment of Razakars, Al Badar, Al Shams and other anti-independence collaborators was approved by the Cabinet on Monday in the weekly Cabinet meeting presided over by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. Now the law is waiting to be passed by the Jatiya Sangsad (JS). The present law on this issue does not make any reference to any enlistment of anti-liberation people. For this reason it has been rectified to prepare a full list of Razakars, members of Al Badar and Al Shams who opposed the Liberation War of 1971 and committed war crimes.
Cabinet Secretary Khandaker Anwarul Islam told journalists after the Cabinet meeting that Muktijoddha Council has been empowered to make a list of anti-liberation people from the whole country in the amended law. Eleven members from the Muktijoddha Council can stay on the concerned committee. In the earlier law it was nine members. The chief adviser to this council will appoint five advisers for Muktijoddha Council from the Liberation War force commanders, sub sector commanders and freedom fighters.
