BD reports first Covid death after one month -The Asian Age

 
Bangladesh on Saturday reported first death from Covid-19 after one month in 24 hours till Saturday morning while 16 more cases were registered due to the deadly pathogen.Some 3,927 samples were tested in the past 24 hours and 0.41 percent found Covid-19 positive, Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) said in its routine daily statement.

The official tally showed that the virus killed 29,128 people and infected 19,53,204 so far, the statement added.Another 172 people recovered from the illness nationwide, bringing the total number of recoveries to 1,900,747. The latest figures put the recovery rate at 97.31 percent and the mortality rate at 1.49 percent.

Globally, over 526.90 million people have been infected by the novel coronavirus and 6.28 million have died, according to a tally by Johns Hopkins University.Infections have been reported in more than 210 countries and territories since the first cases were identified in China in December 2019.
