'Public representatives can bring changes' -The Asian Age
Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives Minister Tajul Islam has said public representatives must be idealistic through their utmost helpful activities to the society and if they do that social positive change is possible.
He came up with the remarks at the National Institute of Local Government in the capital on Sunday while addressing as the chief guest on an inauguration training program for the newly elected Gazipur City Corporation Councilors.
He further said "People will get advantages through your own areas urbanization by exact planning as well as we do not expect unplanned urbanization from you." He, however, called upon the councilors to be more active for the development work.
"We can't not prevent dengue alone but we need assistance from each other and all we have to be neat and clean to control dengue," Tajul added. Councilors can play a crucial role for the awareness of the people regarding the matter, he added and again mentioned that overall participation of all is essential for the country's and own areas development.
Local Government Division Secretary Muhammad Ibrahim presided over the program and said 5 days tenure day long training program would be helpful to make the skilled and knowledgeable Councilors of the Gazipur City Corporation.
As the part of a field level inspection GCC Councilors would be able to tour Rajshahi City Corporation so that both sides could be benefited with view exchange with each other, the Secretary added.
Gazipur City Corporation Mayor Zayeda Khatun addressed the program as a special guest. National Institute of Local Government DG Saleh Ahmed Muzaffar gave the welcome speech at the event.
