Former BCL leaders hurl denigrating words at Obaidul Quader -The Asian Age

A discussion meeting between former Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) leaders and Awami League General Secretary and Roads, Transports and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader ended amid an unwanted and unpleasant situation. The commotion started as Obaidul Quader started the briefing before the meeting at around 11:30am on Wednesday (July 31) at Bangabandhu Avenue in the capital.

Agitating BCL leaders asked the journalists to leave. Things turned ugly as the journalists did not listen to them. The former BCL leaders started verbally abusing the journalists and the central leaders. This prompted the journalists to immediately leave the venue.

But Obaidul Quader continued speaking. Despite trying to stop the ruckus, no one paid attention to the Awami League general secretary. After that, he left the venue without finishing the press conference.

"We have to build a united resistance against those who are engaged in destruction in the name of the quota movement. The Awami League will monitor everything," Obaidul Quader told former Chhatra League leaders before the fuss was kicked up.

Obaidul Quader said that the party's central leaders, along with former student leaders, will work in coordination.
"We will evaluate the efforts. I am announcing this on behalf of party President Sheikh Hasina," said Obaidul Quader.
"We don't want any leaders or activities who will not work," he added.
