Industry Minister Amir Hossain Amu claimed that the new Industry Policy 2016 of the present government increased the facilities for the private sector and investors.
"The new industry policy of the government is patronizing the private investors and industrialists by the policy level as well as the assistance level."
He said the industry sector contributed a total of 31.54 percent in GDP in 2015-16 fiscal. Of the total contribution of industry sector, the manufacturing sectors contributed a total of 11.69 percent in our GDP in 2015-16 fiscal, according to him.
Referring to the growth in industrial sector, Amir Hossain Amu said, "Our lather, Ready Made Garment (RMG), ship building Industry, shoe manufacturing companies and medicine producing sector are becoming more capable day by day. Now, we are competing in the world market as our capacity is increasing day by day."
Addressing the inaugural ceremony of the month-long 25th Chittagong International Trade Fair (CITF) on Sunday at Railway Polo ground in the port city as chief guest Industry Minister Amir Hossain Amu further said, "our industry sector is doing well. The Chittagong International Trade Fair (CITF) which is being arranged by Chittagong Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCCI) since last 25 years is playing a great role in our trade and commerce sector."
The inaugural ceremony of the month-long 25th Chittagong International Trade Fair (CITF) was presided over by CCCI president Mahabubul Alam. Besides, the mayor of Chittagong City Corporation Alhaj A J M Nasir Uddin, Acting President of FBCCI Mohammed Shafiul Islam Mohiuddin were present at the function as special guests.
Addressing the function, mayor of Chittagong City Corporation A J M Nasir Uddin stressed on identifying the problems of the trade and business sector to solve these. "So, we need a good policy of the government."
Addre-ssing the function, Acting President of FBCCI Mohammad Shafiul Islam Mohiuddin said, "We need intensified security system by the government to ensure the proper environment of trade and business here in Bangladesh. Besides, we also need the gas and power and all other infrastructural facilities by the government to attracting the local and foreign investment."
Addressing the function, CCCI president Mahabubul Alam asid, "Chittagong Chamber is observing the 25 years of the CITF in the current year. We have started the CITF at outer stadium before 25 years. Now, the CITF has passed its 25 years in the current year. But, we have no permanent venue. We demand a permanent venue to arrange the CITF every year."
