World TB Day observed -The Asian Age

The World Tuberculosis (TB) Day -2017 was observed in the country yesterday like elsewhere in the globe to create awareness against the fatal disease and mobilize political and social commitments to eliminate it.
World TB Day is observed every year on March 24 to create awareness and support world-wide efforts to eliminate tuberculosis.

The annual event commemorates the date in 1882 when Dr. Robert Koch announced his discovery of Mycobacterium tuberculosis, the bacillus that causes TB.

This year's World TB Day theme was 'Unite to End TB.' Different government and NGOs chalked out elaborate programs, including rallies, discussions and seminars.

Bangladesh has attained 94% cure rate of TB treatment against the global target of 85% and it also has witnessed success in case detection.
