Classes in Ctg public varsities likely to resume today -The Asian Age

The classes of the three public universities in Chittagong including Chittagong University (CU), Chittagong University of Engineering and Technology (CUET) and Chittagong Veterinary and Animal Science University (CVASU) likely to be resumed on Wednesday after the decision of Bangladesh Federation of University Teachers Association.
The classes of said three public universities were stopped due to the movement of teachers for grading and wages from the early days of the current month. No classes and examinations were held at CU, CUET and CVASU in the current month. It may be mentioned that the leaders of the University Teachers Association and federation met with the Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Monday at Gono Bhabon. The Prime Minister ensured the leaders of the teachers of universities that she would consider the demands of teachers and requested to go back classes. Following the request of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, the teachers likely to start classes from Wednesday after taking decision in the meeting of federation, said a leader of CU Teachers Association (CUTA).Professor Dr Abul Monsur, president of CUTA and vice president of federation was also present at the meeting with Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. Professor Dr Abul Monsur said, the teacher's community is being hopeful after the assurance of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina for realizing the demand of teachers."He said, "a meeting was called on Tuesday afternoon where the assurance of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will be discussed and the meeting will take decision for resuming classes at public universities."General secretary of CUTA Professor Dr S M Kaji Kashrul Alam Kuddusi said, "after the decision of the meeting of federation, the teachers will go back to classes from Wednesday." President of CUET Teachers Association Professor Dr Abdur Rahman Bhuyan said, "the leaders of teachers community discussed the crisis with the Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and the meeting was successful one as Prime Minister ensured to consider the demands of the teachers. So, I hope that the teachers will go back to classes from Wednesday after the decision of federation meeting on Tuesday.
