The Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) and Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) witnessed slight gain in early trade on Wednesday, as the enthusiastic investors were on buying spree.
After first one hour of trading, the key index of the country's major bourse gained 13.47 point up while the Selective Category Index of the port city bourse rose 36.94 point.
DSEX, the prime index of the DSE, went up by 13.47 points or 0.21 percent to 6,300 points at 11:54 am.
The DS30 index, comprising blue chips, also gained 4.92 points or 0.21 percent to stand at 2,282.99 points.
The DSE Shariah Index (DSES) advanced 5.43 points or 0.39 percent to reach at 1,396 points.
Turnover stands at Tk 1,866 million on the DSE, riding on Square Pharmaceuticals and Premier Cement Mills.
Square Pharmaceuticals Limited dominated the turnover chart with shares worth Tk 194.87 million changing hands till then, followed by Premier Cement Mills, Golden Harvest Agro Industries, BD Thai Aluminum, and Zaheen Spinning.
Of the issues traded till then, 154 advanced, 96 declined and 62 issues remained unchanged.
However, the port city bourse, the CSE, saw positive trend till then with its Selective Category Index - CSCX - advancing 36.94 points to stand at 11819.67 also at 11:57 am.
Of the issues traded till then, 87 gained, 62 declined and 26 remained unchanged with a turnover value of Tk 80 million.
