Professor Abdus Salam becomes IU VC

 
Sheikh Abdus Salam, former Professor of Mass Communication and Journalism department of Dhaka University has been appointed as the 13th Vice Chancellor of Islamic University in Kushtia. IU acting registrar SM Abdul Latif confirmed the matter on Tuesday evening saying President Abdul Hamid, also the Chancellor of the university, appointed Abdus Salam to the post for the next four years. When contacted, Sheikh Abdus Salam said, 'He received a letter in this regard and would work for the betterment of the university.' Islamic University Journalists' Association, IUTA and different teachers and students associations have also congratulated him for being the vice-chancellor of the university. The tenure of the university's previous vice-chancellor Professor M Harun-Ur-Rashid Askari came to an end on August 20 since then the post was remained vacant.
