The colonel rank of retired army officer Shahid Uddin Khan has been scrapped. His retirement order which was issued in 2009 has been revoked too. Shahid Uddin Khan has been living in London with his family for last several years.

The above directives were issued on 3 May under the order of the President. It was signed by Wahida Sultana, Deputy Secretary to the Ministry of Defence. Shahid Uddin Khan was sentenced to nine years imprisonment in 2020 by a court over income tax evasion.

Allegations show that Shahid Uddin Khan is involved with different anti-state activities while he is living abroad. The penal sentence against Shahid Uddin Khan would come into effect from the day of his arrest or surrender, the judge said in the verdict. National Board of Revenue (NBR) assistant tax commissioner Sheikh Ali Hasan filed the case on September 25, 2019 accusing Shahid of evading Tk 15 lakh in income tax between 2015 and 2018. On September 28, 2020, the court framed charges against Shahid. During the trial of the case, the court took the testimonies of 11 people. In an arms case, the Dhaka Special Tribunal 4 on November 10, 2020 sentenced Shahid, his wife Farhana Anjum Khan and two others to life term imprisonment. Farhana is also reportedly staying abroad with Shahid.

According to the prosecution, a team of the Counter Terrorism and Transnational Crime Unit of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police on January 17, 2019 raided the residence of the couple in Baridhara DOHS and seized two pistols with 11 rounds of bullets, a shotgun and several magazines from there.

Later, Biplob Kishore Shil, an inspector of the CTTC, filed a case against the four people with the Cantonment police station.
