BUP observes Nat'l Mourning Day

Bangladesh University of Professionals (BUP) has observed the 46th Martyrdom Anniversary and National Mourning Day with due dignity and solemnity on Sunday (August 15). Due to global pandemic, various day-long programs were organized physically at Bijoy Auditorium of BUP and virtually in two phases maintaining social distancing and Covid-19 protocols.

At the first phase, various programs including keeping the national flag at half-mast, reciting the Holy Qur'an, special munajat, screening of documentary were organized by BUP and a discussion on Bangabandhu's lifestyle and leadership, commemorating the 15th August, group recitation and sand art were organized by BUP Cultural Forum. In the second phase, a discussion meeting was held organized by different faculties in virtual platforms.

In the first phase of the program, BUP Vice-Chancellor Major General Md Moshfequr Rahman, SGP, SUP, ndc, psc was present as the chief guest and BUP Pro-VC Prof. M Abul Kashem Mozumder, PhD was present as the special guest. Respected Vice Chancellor prayed for the eternal salvation of the departed souls of all the martyrs of 15 August 1975 including Father of the nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.

He said Bangabandhu is not a figure, he is an ideal, so we have to move forward keeping his ideal in mind. He further reiterated that we must show our esteem respect to Bangabandhu's ideal and struggling spirit by materializing his cherished dream. He emphasized on education as the thriving force and mainstay on comprehending the cherished dream of father of the nation with a view to found a society free from hunger, poverty and inequality. BUP high officials, faculty members and a large number of students took part in the programs.
