New office-bearers of Swachip
Dhaka, 18 Nov- M Iqbal Arsalan has been made President and MA Aziz Secretary General of the new Swadhinata Chikitshak Parishad (Swachip) committee announced five days after the council.
The pro-Awami League doctors' platform held its fourth council in its 22 years of existence on Nov 13. But halfway into the council, they had decided to leave the decision on the formation of the new committee to Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina who heads the Awami League. The new committee was declared on Wednesday. Arslan was the secretary general of the immediate past committee while Aziz was an executive member. Arslan is also the secretary general of Bangladesh Medical Association where Aziz is a joint secretary. "The leader (Hasina) also announced the name of three joint secretaries and three vice-presidents," Aziz said.
The new vice-presidents of this doctors' body are: Kanak Kanti Barua, Rouf Sardar and Rokeya Sultana. The joint secretaries are Jakaria Swapan, Uttam Kumar Barua, and Zulfiquer Lenin. The full committee will have 151 members, Aziz said.
