Prof Dr Neem Chandra Bhowmik, Ushaton Talukder, Nirmal Rozario have been elected presidents of Bangladesh Hindu-Buddha-Christian Unity Council (BHBCUC) while Advocate Rana Dasgupta made general secretary of the platform of minority communities in Bangladesh.

In the concluding day of the two-day-long council, over two thousand councilors from 76 organizational districts took part in the election process held at the Institute of Engineers in the capital on Saturday.

Earlier on Friday, the council was inaugurated by Prof Dr Syed Anwar Hossain. The newly-elected leaders of the organization reiterated their demand to reinstate the Constitution adopted in 1972 under the leadership of Father of the Nation Bangbandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.

They also demanded the special protection act and national minority commission as well as implementation of the vested property return act and Chittagong Hill Tracts Peace Accord.  Condemning all terrorist and communal attacks in the country, the BHBCUC leaders urged the government to punish the perpetrators and rehabilitate the victims.
