Biswajit's 'Sarangshe Tumi' at SAARC film fest

The seventh edition of the SAARC International Film festival, set to be held from November 21-25 in the Sri Lankan capital of Colombo. Besides three Bangladeshi films that are going to be screened at the festival, a musical film 'Sarangshe Tumi' is also scheduled to delight Colombo as well. The film has been featured in the short film section of the festival.

Considered as the first musical film of Bangladesh, 'Sarangshe Tumi' is based on the eight tracks of a musical album with same title. It was the first duet album by National Film Award winning popular singer and music director Kumar Biswajit with Samina Chowdhury, Nancy and Kolkata's Shubhomita. The album was launched last year.

The script of the musical film has been written by National Film Award and Ekushey Padak winning lyricist Gazi Mazharul Anwar and directed by Ashiqur Rahman. 'Sarangshe Tumi' tells a romantic story of love and affection. Popular actor-models Antu Kareem and Raha appeared in the film. Kumar Biswajit was really excited about the musical being enlisted in the festival to be screened.

"The film creates a poetic harmony with the songs. It is a huge achievement for us that 'Sarangshe Tumi' is taking part in the SAARC Film Festival. International recognition like this inspires me a lot," said he.  To note, SAARC film fest has gained a reputation for promoting some of the best films from the SAARC region.
