Chinese power giant NEPC set up office in Dhaka

NEPC, one of the Chinese giant power engineering companies, has set up its office here with a long term plan to penetrate Bangladesh market through setting up more power stations as well as importing power generation machineries and equipment. NEPC (China Energy Engineering Group Northeast No 1 Electric Power Construction Co Ltd) is the first ever any Chinese power plant construction company that set up its own full-phased office in Dhaka.

"We are giving most priority to the Bangladesh projects as NEPC plants will be responsible for generating around one fourth of the total power generation of this country soon" The Executive Managing Director of Bangladesh Branch Company of NEPC Roy Luo Changqing said while inaugurating the new office at Glass House in Gulshan yesterday.

Currently, NEPC is constructing the 1320 MW coal-fired thermal power plant with eco-friendly clean coal technology, first time in Bangladesh, near Payra port in Patuakhali, one of the landmark power generation projects of the present government.
