Lt. General (Rtd) M. Fazle Akbar has acquired doctor of philosophy (PhD) from Bangladesh University of Professionals (BUP) for his research work titled "Connectivity in South Asia: Impact on Bangladesh Economy and Development".
The PhD certificate was awarded to Lt. General (Rtd) M. Fazle Akbar on 26th December 2017 at the convocation of BUP which is located in Mirpur Cantonment. M. Fazle Akbar received the certificate from the university's chancellor President Abdul Hamid. According to a press release issued by BUP, M. Fazle Akbar carried out his research work under supervision of Professor Dr. Nazmul Ahsan Kalimullah, Vice Chancellor of Begum Rokeya University.
M. Fazle Akbar earlier accomplished masters in Political Science from Dhaka University and Master of Business Administration (MBA) from Royal University. He also obtained an M. Phil degree from National University. M. Fazle Akbar achieved NDC degree from National Defence College of Bangladesh. He successfully attended PSC course in Pakistan Army's Quetta Staff College, Anti Aircraft Firing Drone Course in China and also completed Security Intelligence Administration Course in United Kingdom. M. Fazle Akbar has presented keynote papers in a number of international seminars and conferences.
At present M. Fazle Akbar is holding the post of Chief Executive Officer (CEO) in Regent Airways. M. Fazle Akbar participated in the Liberation War of 1971 as a freedom fighter in Chittagong region. He was commissioned in Bangladesh Army in 1976.
He retired from service in 2015. Lt. General (Rtd) M. Fazle Akbar served in Bangladesh Army as Director General of DGFI, Commandant of National Defence College and held some more vital posts during his decorated career. He also held the rank of UN Sector Commander in Liberia. M. Fazle Akbar is a golfer too.
