BD embassy observes Amar Ekushey in Japan

The Shaheed Dibash and International Mother Language day was observed in a befitting manner by the Embassy of Bangladesh in Tokyo, Japan. 

The day started with placing of the floral wreath in memory of the language martyrs at the Shaheed Minar situated at the Ikebukuro Nishiguchi Park in Toshima city near Tokyo.  

Bangladesh Ambassador to Japan Rabab Fatima and Mayor of Toshima city Yukio Takano led while placing the floral wreath accompanied by other officials. Later Non-resident Bangladeshis paid their homage at the platform with due manner and respect, said a press release. 

The second part of the program was held at the Embassy when the national flag hoisted of half-mast by the Ambassador. A minute of silence was observed and special Doa (Munajat) was offered for the salvation of the departed souls of the Language martyrs.

Besides at the Bangabandhu auditorium of the embassy the messages given by the President, Prime Minister, Foreign Minister and State Minister for Foreign Affairs on the occasion were read out to audience.

 Then Ambassador gave her welcome speech where she described the background of the Mother Language Movement of 1952 and then urged all to work in a body for the development of our country. 

The historic song of Ekushe, “Amar Vaier Rokte…” was sung by the members of the embassy and a video documentary named “My Mother Tongue” was screened at the program.
