Joy Bangla Concert rocks Army Stadium Powersurge performs at the Joy Bangla Concert 2018, at Banani Army Stadium on Wednesday; March 7, 2018. -AA

The historic March 7 speech by Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman was celebrated with the spirit of liberation and Bangladeshi youth when the whole Army Stadium rocked with Joy Bangla Concert 2018. Each year, the Young Bangla organizes the massive event to commemorate the historic March 7 speech.

With the revolutionary songs of Shadin Bangla Betar Kendra, eight leading bands-Powersurge, Arbovirus, Shunno, Nemesis, Cryptic Fate, Lalon, Chirkutt and Artcell brought back the enthusiasm the people had while Bangabandhu was calling every Bengalese to fight.

The band members were welcomed by loud cheers and applause. The numbers of people were countless who showed up at the Army Stadium. According to the organizers, more than 32,000 people registered online for this year's concert. 

The gate of the concert opened at 1:30pm and the show started at 3:30pm. At the beginning, a group of talented youngsters performed the famous patriotic song 'Purbo Digonte Surjo Utheche'. After their performance, Powersurge began the main event by performing another popular patriotic song 'Maa Go Bhabna Keno'. This was the first time the band performed as headliners for the Joy Bangla Concert.

Besides this song, the band also performed some of their own tracks 'Aprostut Juddho', 'Agnisnan' and 'Mitther Agrason'. In addition, they also performed James' famous tracks 'Sultana Bibiana' and 'Beder Meye Josna'. After Powersurge, Arbovirus took the stage. They performed their own version of 'Amra Korbo Joy' and some of their originals 'Jalo Agun Jalo', 'Shohor', 'Hariye Jao' and 'Omanush'.

A promo on "Mujib," the graphic novel based on the life of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, was shown and then Shunno began their performance. Shunno performed tracks including "Cholo Aj Firey Jai Godhulir Opaare" and "Shoto Asha" along with renditions of "Joy Bangla Banglar Joy," "Sonadia Bandhaiyasi Ghor," and "Shono Jonogon."

After Shunno, a video clip from the UNESCO chief declaring the 7 March speech by Bangabandhu as part of their world's documentary heritage was shown to the audience.

Then popular band Nemesis performed their version of "Rokto diye naam Likhechhi/ Bangladesh Er Naam" as well as their original tracks including "Bir," "Kobe," and "Ghuri".

Later on, Cryptic Fate performed "Teer Hara Ei Dheu Er Shagor" along with their original tracks "Voboghure," "Cholo Bangladesh," and more on stage.

Lalon, Chirkutt and Artcell also surprised the audiences with their dazzling performances on the stage of this year's Joy Bangla Concert.
