Attack on Ekattor TV journalist condemned

Leaders of Bangladesh Federal Union of Journalists (BFUJ) yesterday condemned Thurs-day's attack on Ekattor Television special correspondent Farzana Rupa in the United Kingdom (UK).In a statement, BFUJ President Manjurul Ahsan Bulbul and Secretary General Omar Faruque expressed concerns and said Rupa was injured by some anti-Bangladesh forces in Newcastle.

Rupa is now in the UK to cove the Common-wealth summit, the leaders said, adding that she is also covering the anti-Bangladesh activities of Jamaat-Shibir in Britain. The Jamaat-Shibir activists wanted to kill Rupa. They urged the UK police to ensure security of Rupa and to recover her snatched belongings from the attackers.
