Former foreign secretary Tabarak Husain has died of old-age related diseases. He was 94. A spokesperson for the Yunus Center, Lamiya Morshed, told the news agency yesterday that Husain died in Washington DC on Sunday.
He was a former chairman of Grameen Bank and Mohammad Yunus condoled his death. Born in 1924, Husain obtained his BA (Honours) and MA in Economics from the Dhaka University and postgraduate degree in international relations from the London School of Economics and Political Science.
He joined the Pakistan Foreign Service as a member of the first regular batch in 1949 and served in different capacities in the Pakistan diplomatic missions in India, the Netherlands, UK and Thailand.
