Bobita receives Lifetime Achievement Award

Legendary actress Farida Akhter Bobita received the Lifetime Achievement Award at the 17th Tele-Cine Awards in Kolkata in June 2. The award ceremony was held at the Nazrul Mancha in Kolkata. Bobita said she was really happy. "It's very good news. I'm very happy to win this award." Nayak Raj Razzak was conferred the same honour last year.

Bobita first gained international acclaim starring in Satyajit Ray's "Ashani Sanket" (1973) opposite Soumitra Chatterjee.
Based on a novel on the Bengal famine of 1943, the movie went on to win the Golden Bear Prize at the Berlinale.

The legendary actress had received the National Film Award for Best Actress three times in a row from 1975-1977 for "Bandi Keno Kande," "Noyonmoni," and "Basundhara." In 1985, Bobita won the award again in 1985 for "Ramer Sumati."

Some of her other notable works include Shubhash Dutta's "Arunodoyer Agnishakkhi" (1972), Narayan Ghosh Mita's "Alor Michil" (1974), and Chashi Nazrul Islam's "Padma Meghna Jamuna" (1991).
