7 seek nominations from AL, BNP, JP

Seven persons have been looking for nomination from Awami League, BNP and Jatiya Party in Manikganj-2 constituency consist of Harirampur, Singair and Manikganj sadar upazila in the next national election.

From first to 8th national election there were four seats in Manikganj. Just before the ninth national polls Manikganj 4 has been broken and Manikganj 2 constituency has been introduced.

So now there are three seats now instead of 4.
In 2008 national election Afroza Khan Rita daughter of BNP leader Munnu became the candidate. But she was defeated by Jatiya Party man S M Abdul Manna in 9th national polls. In the 10th national polls singer Momtaz Begum was elected without any competitor as BNP didn't join the election.

In the upcoming 11th national election there are four nomination seekers form AL. They are present MP Momtaj Begum, Dhaka North AL executive member and District AL adviser Engineer Salam Chowdhury, Hatipara UP chairman and district AL executive member Golam Monir Hossain, AL central youth and sports secretary Shafiul Arefin Tutul. Momtaj Begum has been campaigning besides the govt activities.

But the voters have been looking for a new face as they did not witness expected development activities. So new faces are the main obstacles to Momtaj. In the other hand Engineer Salam Chowdhury has been campaigning as a new face. Former BGMEA director Engineer Salam Chowdhury has been elected as Zilla Parishad member with huge votes.

Engineer Salam Chowdhury has been working for the distressed people from his own funds and doing several development works in the locality. Previously he was a development mate of late DNCC Mayor Annisul Haque. He has been helping flood-hit people. He distributed blankets in two upazilas among the cold-hit people. Local people said, Engineer Salam Chowdhury stands beside them in need.

In the meantime Salam Chowdhury attended in several yard, discussion meetings in his area. In the upcoming national election Engineer Salam Chowdhury is expecting nomination from Manikganj-2.

Awami League root level activists said to The Asian Age that honest and capable candidate can keep the constituency. In the meantime Hatipara Union's successful Chairman Golam Monir Hossain has been being active in the election field with local activists. He has been elected chairman for two times. Golam Monir Hossain has been giving generous hands for the local development.

He has established school, college, mosque and madrasah in his region. Golam Monir Hossain is following the party's instruction. Golam Monir Hossain is also working to inform his desire for the seat. He has also been financially helping local educational institutions and religious organizations.

In the upcoming national election His is also expecting nomination from Manikganj-2. Other candidates are showing themselves in various posters, banners and festoons. Jatiya Party's Presidium member and former MP S M Abdul Mannan also seeking nomination from Jatiya Party. In different sources it is known that S M Abdul Mannan may get nomincation from 14-party alliance instead of Momtaj Begum.

In the other hand Engineer Moinul Islam Khan Shanto, Singair Upazila Chairman Abidur Rahman Khan Roman also seeking nomination from BNP. BNP men and local activists have been looking nomination for Engineer Moinul Islam Khan Shanto as he only can win in this seat they presume.
