Prachyanat to remember Savar tragedy on

Leading theatre troupe Prachyanat will stage their popular production 'Tragedy Palashbari' at Mahila Samiti auditorium at 7:00pm today. On the occasion, the troupe will also unveil the manuscript of 'Circus Circus', another popular production of Prachyanat at 6:30pm. The manuscript was published as a book in the Ekushey Book fair 2016. Pioneering theatre activists Mamunur Rashid will unveil the manuscript.  In the midnight of 11 April 2005, the nine-storied building of the Spectrum Sweater and Knitting factory at Polashbari, Savar collapsed into a heap of rubble in an instance. Written and directed by Azad Abul Kalam, the play `Tragedy of Polashbari' depicts the trauma of the victims of Spectrum Garments workers. The play circles around `Taravan' who has been portrayed as one of the workers of the factory who died in that event. She is a reflection of the workers who came to work during the night shift on that frightful night. The play has been weaved with the thread of her nostalgic remembrance of a cycle of her memories, dreams and life. The ceiling may fall down at any moment and smash her life without letting her a chance to move. In this situation she somehow identifies herself with the equation of what she has got in life and what she has not. Tragedy Palashbari, which is the 30th production of the troupe, was premiered on December 30, 2014.
