Purnima finally returning with 'exotic' traffic jam film

After almost half a decade, popular Dhallywood actress Purnima is returning to the big screen finally. The 'Shubha Mahurat' (launching ceremony) of her comeback film was held on last Monday at Dhaka Club. With this film, Kritanjali Chalochittro, a production house founded by the late actor Manna, is going to produce yet another film under its banner after a hiatus of 10 years.

The last appearance of Purnima in Dhallywood film was in Shohanur Rahman Sohan's 'Love Pap Pape Mrittyu' in 2012. Although she was supposed to come back with Jazz Multimedia's new film 'Dahan', she had to step away from the film because of negative portraying of media of her come back.

Until now, she was busy with small TV productions besides giving time to her family.  The new film, directed by Nayeem Imtiaz Neyamul, is titled 'Jam' and the shooting will begin from October this year.

About returning to the big screen after a long hiatus, Purnima said, "It was not like that I was not offered any film. I wanted to come back with a really good film. The story of 'Jam' really intrigued me."

"There is another reason I am coming back with this film. 'Jam' is going to be produced under Manna bhai's production house. I have a unique connection of love and respect with this production house.

Besides, the main concept of the film came from the late journalist Ahmed Zaman Chowdhury, dialogue was written by Pantho Shahriar. This film has some really powerful, talented people involved. I am really glad that I am going to act as the lead actress in a film under the production house of Manna," she added.

The main cast of the film are Dilara Hanif Purnima, Ferdous Ahmed and Arifin Shuvo. Other actors include Omar Sani, Moushumi, Amit Hasan, Misha Shawdagor and Champa.

'Jam' is going to be the first film based on the traffic condition of Bangaldesh. However, the film will shed light on social and personal issues using Dhaka's "exotic" traffic jam as a metaphor. The film's main intension is to portray the social and love affair related complexities comparing them with the "exotic" traffic jam of this country.
