Mass Killing Monument foundation stone laid

Cultural Affair Minister Asaduzzaman Noor laid the foundation stone of Mass Killing Monument at at Nilphamari Govt College on Sunday. The monument is going to be built under the project "Preserving the historical places of the liberation war and making liberation memorial museum".

It will be implemented by Nilphamari LGED. On the occasion, Najia Shirin, DC of Nilphamari district, Additional SP ABM Atiqur Rahman, Dewan Kamal Ahmed, mayor of Nilphamari Municipality and the president of Awami League of Nilphamari district, Abujar Rahman, Chairman of sadar upazila, Mosfiqur Islam Rintu, president of municipal Awami League, Hafijur Islam Monju, organizational secretary of Awami League, Professor Debi Prosath Ray, Principal of Nilphamari Govt. College and all the freedom fighters of the district were also present there. Then a discussion meeting was held at the college premises.

All the speakers expressed their feelings of the monument. They spoke about the brutal mass killing of the field in 1971. A lot of students along with teachers were present there.   Asaduzzaman said, "Liberation is a very sensational matter.

The monument should be built earlier. We should preserve the place for the next generation. Otherwise our next generation will not be able to know anything of the memory of mass killing of Nilphamari."
