The 87 -year- old former state minister for religious affair Mawlana Nurul Islam died at Apollo Hospital in Dhaka on early Sunday while he was undergoing treatment . He breathed his last around 5:30 on early Sunday said his son Torikul Islam. The former state minister for religious affairs, who had been suffering from respiratory diseases was admitted to the hospital on November 2.
He left behind wife, three sons, three daughters and a host of relatives to mourn his death. He was elected parliament member from Jamalpur-4 constituency (Sarishabari ) in 1996, defeating BNP's secretary general Barrister Abudus Salam Talukder and became state minister for religious minister in 1996. The body will be buried at his family graveyard in Sarishabari.
