Fire Service Station opens at Karnaphuli EPZ

To strengthen the fire prevention and workplace safety as well as the operations of rescue and assistance in fire disaster, Bangladesh Export Processing Zones Authority (BEPZA) has opened a new Fire Service and Civil Defense Station in Karnaphuli EPZ.

Executive Chairman of BEPZA Major General Mohd Habibur Rahman Khan, BSP, ndc, psc, has inaugurated the newly established Fire Station in Karnaphuli EPZ premises in Chattogram on Monday.

During the inaugural ceremony, Major General Habib said, "Bangladesh EPZ is 'Bonanza for the Investors'. Investors from 37 countries have set up industries in the EPZs. Industrial friendly peaceful investment climate is the main attraction of EPZ and the key strength of EPZs is amicable cohesive teamwork and harmonious relations among Worker-Management-Owner."

Currently 45 operating industries are in Karnaphuli EPZ where 73,704 workers are working. BEPZA has set up this fire station in KEPZ to assure the safety of lives and properties of workers and entrepreneurs both and ensure workplace safety including tackle the emergency situation, he added.

After the inauguration, Executive Chairman of BEPZA observed the fire station and happy to see the modern facilities and equipments. BEPZA established the fire station with their own fund having 5 emergency tenders vehicles which equipped by modern facilities along with fire fighting appliances.

Executive Chairman of BEPZA accompanied by Brigadier General Ali Ahmed Khan, Psc (Retd), Director General of Bangladesh Fire Service and Civil Defense, Ashraful Kabir, Chief Engineer of BEPZA, Moshiuddin Bin Mesbah, General Manager of Karnaphuli EPZ and Md Khorshid Alam, General Manager of Chittagong EPZ were present at the event, among others.
