The partnership was aimed at championing the UNICEF's cause and contributes towards participation of children in the game of cricket. As part of the agreement the world famous UNICEF logo will appear in the match jersey of the Bangladesh national cricket team (men, women and under-19).

The move is the first time UNICEF's logo has appeared on the shirts of an international cricket team which is considered to be a major milestone for the United Nation's agency. According to officials the two year long deal is at the center of UNICEF's sports activation plan that is launched to encourage adolescent boys and girls to play cricket.

''Given the popularity of cricket in Bangladesh, high hopes are pinned on this agreement,'' said Mr. Edouard Beigbeder, Representative, UNICEF Bangladesh told reporters at the signing ceremony.''BCB and UNICEF had successful collaboration on several occasions in the past but with this agreement we hope to reach out to many more disadvantaged children and empower them trough cricket,'' he added.

BCB chief executive Nizamuddin Chowdhury welcomed UNICEF and hoped that it will give impetus to the enormous positive wave that cricket can stimulate in the society."It [deal] will bring more human face to the existing activities of BCB as it formally champions the right of children to play,'' said Nizamuddin.

Under the terms of agreement, UNICEF is committed to support BCB's drive to develop cricket in Bangladesh, with the focus especially on getting the children in general- especially girls under18- to play the game.UNICEF has been working closely with BCB and national cricket players to raise awareness of child rights since 2006.
