Sultan M Monsur wins  in Moulvibazar

Jatiya Oikya Front's candidate and Gono Forum leader Sultan Mohammad Mansur Ahmed has ensured his victory in Moulvibazar-2. On the other hand, three others seats of the district were won by Awami League candidates.

Sultan Mohammad Monsur, former Vice President (VP) of the Dhaka University Central Students' Union (DUCSU), bagged 79,882 votes with the symbol 'sheaf of paddy', while his nearest rival Bikalpadhara candidate MM Shaheen got 77,147 votes.

Returning Officer (RO) and Moulvibazar Deputy Commissioner (DC) Tofail Islam confirmed the result to the media. The win of Sultan Monsur in a challenging position has proved the immense popularity of the former central Awami League leader.

It is mentionable that Sultan Mohammad Monsur was also elected a member of the parliament in Moulvibazar 2 constituency in the 1996 election. In Moulvibazar-1, Awami League candidate Md Shahab Uddin got 1,45,842 votes, while his nearest contender BNP's Nasir Uddin Mithu got 65,853 votes.

In Moulvibazar-3, Awami League candidate Nesar Ahmed got 1,84,579 votes, while his nearest contender BNP's M Naser Rahman got 1,04,595 votes. In Moulvibazar-3, Awami League candidate Abdus Shahid got 2,11,659 votes, while his nearest contender BNP's Mojibur Rahman Chowdhury got 94,213 votes.
