Dabirul Islam seven times winner in Thakurgaon-2

Awami League lawmaker Freedom Fighter Alhaj Dabirul Islam has won the Thakurgaon-2 constituency comprising 2 unions and 3 upazilas in the 11th national election held on Sunday.Alhaj Dabirul Islam has been elected with more than 2 lakh votes. He has been possessing the seat for the last 30 years which is a history for the constituency.

In the past elections, except on January 5, 2014, Jamaat-e-Islami was Awami League's only competitor for this seat; and they never won the election. The centre of all discussions for this constituency is the six-time elected MP and District Awami League President Alhaj Dabirul Islam-also the standing committee chairman of Ministry of Housing and Public Works.

In the northern part of Bangladesh nobody won more than six times elections. But Alhaj Dabirul Islam has set an example of winning for 7 times. The nearer competitor of BNP got only 4,328 votes in the constituency.
