Bir Bahadur Ushwe Sing MP  a minister of CHT affairs now

Bir Bahadur Ushwe Sing, MP was a state minister for Chattogram Hill Tracts Affairs in the last tenure of AL led government. But Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has appointed him Minister of the CHT.

Bir Bahadur Ushwe Sing, MP, was born in on January 10, 1960 in Bandarban Hill District. His father is Lalmohan Bahadur and mother Ma Choi. Ushwe Sing passed SSC in 1976, from Bandarban Government High School and got admitted to Chittagong Government College and later known as Bandarban Government College. He completed his Bachelor and Masters Degree in Political Science from Rajshahi University.

Bir Bahadur got involved with Bangladesh Chhatra League during his college life and was elected office secretary of Bandarban Chhatra League as well as the presidium member of the central committee of Bangladesh Awami Jubo League. In 1992, he served as the General Secretary of Bandarban District AL and later as the Vice-President of the District AL. He also served as Commissioner for the District Scouts.

Bir Bahadur Ushwe Singh was elected the organizing secretary of AL Central Committee in 2002 and Whip of the Parliamentary AL Party.

He is the life member of Bandarban Press Club and Red Crescent zilla unit. He was elected member of the Local Government Council of Bandarban Hill District in 1979. Prior to the historic peace accord on 2 December 1997, he acted as member of the parliamentary standing committee of Civil Aviation and Tourism Ministry.

Ushwe Singh took office as Deputy Minister in 1998 and as State Minister in 2008. He conducted comprehensive development activities in education, health, communication, agriculture and physical infrastructure of the Hill Tracts regions.

Bir Bahadur was deeply connected to sports and culture in his youth and was the Senior Vice President of Bangladesh Football Federation from 1998 to 2001 and as Chairman of Bangladesh Referral Committee. He worked in organizing football tournaments in regional and national levels.

He went to Malaysia to participate in the FIFA World Cup Football Qualifiers Round in 1997. Apart from this, he also served as Bangladesh's Chief of the Mission during the Olympics held in Australia back in 2000.

He is a nationally recognized personality due to his contribution to tree plantation and is also famous as an educationist. He was nominated Senate member of Chittagong University in 2010. Bir Bahadur Ushwe Sing was elected Member of Parliament for the first time in the in 1991.

He is six time MP of Bandarban constituency. In the 11th Parliamentary Elections, AL candidate Bir Bahadur won in Bandarban with 142,223 votes beating rival candidate from BNP, Saching Pru Jerry by a huge margin. Bir Bahadur Ushwe Sing is a father of two sons and one daughter.
