Ex-MP Abdul Baten passes away


Former MP Khandaker Abdul Baten died at a city hospital yesterday morning at the age of 72. His namaz-e-janaza was held on the south plaza of Jatiya Sangsad (JS) Bhaban yesterday. A guard of honor was given to the freedom fighter.Later, on behalf of the prime minister, her special assistant Abdus Sobhan Golap paid tributes to the deceased.

On behalf of JS speaker, sergeant-at-arms, Deputy Speaker Md Fazle Rabbi Miah, AL leaders, on behalf of parliament members club, Chief Whip of 10th Jatiya Sangsad ASM Feroz, whips Atikur Rahman Atik and Iqbalur Rahim and Noor-e-Alam Chowdhury and Dhaka district administration placed wreaths on the coffin.

Baten, the MP of Tangail-6 constituency (Nagorpur-Delduar) in 2008 and 2014, had been suffering from old-age complications for long. He left behind his wife, two sons, a daughter and a host of relatives and well-wishers to mourn his death.
