Sheikh Abdullah gets recognition Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah

In an interview with The Asian Age Religious State Minister Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah said he entered active politics imbued with the ideology of Awami League in 1967 and still remains with the political party. I have been working for a long time as Religious Affairs Secretary in AL central working committee.

Asked about the causes his induction to cabinet he told The Asian Age said that since 1967 he is involved in AL as a political activities and for about a decade he is carrying out responsibility as a secretary for religious affairs. One of his great achievements is the government recognition of Quami Madrasa.

Considering these factors, the Prime Minister felt comfortable to choose him as minister, he opined. About his political relationship with Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, Sheikh Abdullah said after coming back to Bangladesh in 1981, he tried to remain his close touch with her and as far as possible and by all means helped with the party activities. During the past two terms of AL government he served as Prime Minister's special representative in her constituency comprising Tungipara and Kotalipara.

Sheikh Abdullah hailed from a respectable family in Gopalganj district (sadar upazila) and he obtained post graduation in Economics, together with the bachelor of law. He said that he would try to live up to the expectation of the Prime Minister as a state minister and show his strong sense of responsibility and uphold the dignity and image of the government.

Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah is credited for helping bring the Quami Ulema to close relationship with AL and this is considered a historic achievement on behalf of AL President. ###Edited by Kamal Bhai
