Local people expressed their satisfaction as the lawmaker Noor-e-Alam Chowdhury Liton of Madaripur-1 constituency, has been made the chief whip of the 11th Jatiya Sangsad.
Born to a political family, Liton was the first to initiate a development plan for Shibchar upazila and turn it into a role model, a feat which is often discussed during the great parliamentary sessions.
He also played a key role in enriching the education sector for women of the district. Chowdhury was elected to Parliament in 2014 from Madaripur-1 as a Bangladesh Awami League Candidate. He is also a member of the parliamentary standing committee on Ministry of Housing and Public Works and acted as Chairman of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Ministry of Shipping.
President Md Abdul Hamid approved the nephew of Prime Minister to his new post on Wednesday. The parliament secretariat issued a gazette notification in this regard moments before the maiden sessions of the 11th Parliament.
The president also appointed six ruling AL lawmakers as whips. The Whips are: Atiur Rahman Atik, Panchanan Biswas, Iqbalur Rahim, Mahbub Ara Begum Gini, Shamsul Huq Chowdhury and Abu Sayeed Al Mahmud Swapan.
