Five candidates in five upazilas of Gopalganj district have been newly elected chairmen in the third phase upazila elections held on Sunday.
Sheikh Lutfor Rahman Baccu in Gopalganj Sadar Upazila, Solaiman Biswas in Tungipara, Bimol Krishna Biswas in Kotalipara, Subrata Thakur in Kashiani, and Md Kabir Miah in Muksudpur upazilas have been elected chairmen. According to unofficially announced results Sheikh Lutfor Rahman Baccu in Gopalganj Sadar Upazila has been elected chairman and got 37,650 votes where his nearest rival Mahmud Hossain Dipu got 37,620 votes.
Md Solaiman Biswas has been elected chairman in Tungipara upazila who got 27,060 votes where his nearest rival Md Babul Sheikh got 27032 votes.Bimol Krishna Biswas has been elected chairman in Kotalipara upazila. He got 60,211 votes where his nearest rival Mujibur Rahman Hawlader got 37,141 votes.
Subrata Thakur has been elected upazila chairman in Kashiani who got 22,416 votes where nearest rival Md Moktar Hossain got 21,716 votes.Md Kabir Miah has been elected upazila chairman in Muksudpur. He got 70,617 votes where nearest rival M M Mohiuddin Ahmed Mukta Moah got 42,997 votes.
