BD's tallest man opens shop with PM's assistance Deputy Commissioner of Cox's Bazar, Kamal Hossain yesterday formally inaugurated Jinnat Ali’s shop. -AA

Ramu's Jinnat Ali, the tallest man of the country standing at 8 feet 2 inches, yesterday opened a grocery shop at Gazhenia Bazar of Ramu upazila with assistance from Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.  Deputy Commissioner of Cox's Bazar, Kamal Hossain yesterday formally inaugurated the shop and handed Ali, keys and the necessary documents required to run the store.

Ramu Upazila Executive Officer (UNO), Lutfur Rahman, Assistant Commissioner (Land), Thaayeha Chowdhury, Gazhenia Union Land Officer Mohammad Sahed, Gazhenia UP Chairman Syed Nazrul Islam, Kachpia UP Chairman Abu Mohammed Ismail Noman among others were present during the ceremony.

Earlier, Prime Minister arranged the medical treatment for Ali at Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Medical University Hospital (BSMMU) in the capital after being informed about his illness. She also gave instructions to Cox's Bazar District Administration for providing land and house facilities for Jinnat's livelihood.  Five months later, the initiatives came to fruit as Cox's Bazar District Administration built a grocery shop on 168 sq ft of land in Gazhenia Bazar of Ramu upazila for him.
