Noted actor Saleh Ahmed died at a hospital in the city on Wednesday afternoon. He was 83. Saleh Ahmed, who was undergoing treatment at Apollo Hospital for various old-age complications, breathed his last around 2:45pm, said his brother actor Ahsanul Haque Minu.
The veteran actor was suffering from various old-age issues. Saleh lost the ability to walk after a stroke nearly six years ago. Saleh became popular for his acting in renowned writer Humayun Ahmed's dramas and films. His namaj-e-janaza will be held at a mosque in the city's Uttarkhan area.
Saleh Ahmed was born in Saria Kandi in Bogura district. He started acting at a young age with a Mymensingh based troupe named Amraboti Natyamancho.
He started his acting career through Humayun Ahmed films and dramas from 1991. He had also received Independence Award for his work. Alongside acting, he worked at the Department of Public Health Engineering.
His famous and popular plays and films are-Aaj Robibar, Kothao Keu Nei, Badol Diner Prothom Kodom Ful, Amar Ache Jol, Srabon Megher Din and Aguner Poroshmoni.
