Rally to condemn Donbass killings

A number of people gathered in Dhaka city to express solidarity with the struggle of people in the Donbass of Ukraine for autonomy and to condemn the military campaign unleashed on the unarmed people there during 2014 and 2015.

Over 3,000 people, including 170 children, were killed during the two-year military operation that the Ukraine government launched to foil the movement for autonomy and self-determination of Donbass people.People in Donbass, mostly of Russian origin, initiated their movement to secure autonomy and join the Russian Federation following the ouster of elected president in 2014.

Apart from unleashing military campaign on the Donbass people, the Ukraine regime imposed a ban on Russian language. The government is not even allowing humanitarian aid in the region. Organizers of the gathering in Dhaka's Shahbagh said the Ukraine military is hatching conspiracy to suppress the Donbass people and foil their movement for autonomy. They said the government of Ukraine has long been violating the rights of the journalists there.

The organizers placed a five-point charter of demands, which include immediately accepting the demand of the Donbass people for autonomy, stopping the military operation, lifting of economic embargo on Donbass, and trying those involved in the 'military aggression'.
