A Dhaka court yesterday dismissed a case filed against Mufti Gias Uddin At-Taheri, founder chairman of the Dawat-e-Imani Bangladesh and preacher. As-Shams Jaglul Hossain, judge of the cyber tribunal, set aside the case after hearing as he didn't find merit to take the case into cognizance.
Advocate Ibrahim Khalil filed the case against Taheri under sections 28 and 31 of the Digital Security Act 2018 with the cyber tribunal on September 1.
After taking depositions of the complainant, the court fixed September 2 and later September 3 for delivering order. Accordingly, the court dismissed the case. 10-12 more unknown people were also made accused in the case.
It was alleged in the case that the Holy Quran and the teachings of Prophet Hazrat Mohammad (sm) don't allow singing and dancing at waz mehfil. According to the Islamic Sharia, the activities of the accused are tantamount to hypocrisy. The accused is defaming Islam by his controversial preaching.
