“Art Makes Us Human” is an ongoing online art project by Najib Tareque. The first physical presentation of the project began yesterday and will end on May 25.
Studio 6/6 will be hosting the 10-day long exhibition along with a few discussion sessions where prominent artists and poets will join to share a few words. The guests include artists and poets including Mahmudul Haque, Abul Barq Alvi, Rokeya Sultana, Nisar Hossain, Shishir Bhattacharjee, Maruf Raihan, Lala Rukh Selim, Mustafa Zaman, Shoaib Gibran, Kabir Humayan and Nasimul Khabir Duke.
This is one of the first online art projects in the world, and it made its first appearance in Instagram on July 2015. Since then, more than a thousand artworks with the title "Art Makes Us Human" have been posted on the social media site. The series is part of a conceptual art project which brings forward a notion which remains invisible to us as of yet. The artist used many of his previously drawn illustrations for various books, newspapers and magazines. With illustrations surrounding our everyday lives, art really does seem to make us human. Images which shape our very existence are profoundly invisible with elements which stick to our brain and make us who we are.
Najib Tareque graduated from Institute of Fine Arts, Dhaka University. He was the former chief artist of both Daily Jugantor and Daily Janakantha. The artist was also the former brand marketing consultant of Standard Chartered Bank.
