PowerPac, RAJUK to build Iconic Tower in Dhaka

A high-level roundtable co-ordination meeting on Iconic Tower Project at Purbachal was held between RAJUK officials and the consortium of PowerPac KAJIMA Corporation, Japan and their associates, at RAJUK boardroom on Wednesday regarding the progress of the project.

RAJUK Chairman Dr Sultan Ahmed chaired the meeting attended, among others, by Project Director of Purbachal new town project Engineer Ujjwal Mallick, RAJUK Member (Development) Major (Rtd Engr) Shamsuddin Ahmed Chowdhury, Member (Planning) Sajeed Noor Alam, Member (Estate and Land) MD Azharul Islam Khan, Member (Development Control) Abul Kalam Azad, and Chief Engineer project and design ASM Raihanul Ferdous.

Those who attended the meeting from PowerPac-KAJIMA Corporation were its COO and Director (Operation) Syed Qamrul Islam Mohon, Director (Strategy Development) Naimuz-zaman Mukta, Director (Business Development) Mohammad Salah-uddin, and Advisor Julien Pitton.  

The meeting was also attended by developers and representative at consortium of PowerPac Holdings Ltd (a concern of Sikder group) and KAJIMA Corporation and their internationally renowned high-rise tower and township projects experts Heerim Architects (South Korea), Archetype Group (France) and PWC-India.

A high official of PowerPac said that for the development of Iconic Tower at Purbachal CBD, the developer team already conducted the soil test, traffic impact assessment and initial master plan and submitted reports to RAJUK.

At the meeting, the international expert team members of consortium of PowerPac-KAJIMA Corporation presented the master plan, building layout design, latest earthquake prevention technology, and smart-green city concept to the RAJUK representatives.

For the master planning, world's seventh largest and South Korea's top architect company Heerim Architect and Planers mobilize since October 2016. RAJUK already received the 2019 Asian Townscape Jury's award for the smart and aesthetic iconic tower project.

At the meeting, the RAJUK chairman mentioned that it is a pride for the nation that in the iconic tower the 1952 Language Movement, 1971 Liberation War under the leadership of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and 1996 journey of legacy of his daughter honorable prime minister Sheikh Hasina are being highlighted.

He said he is very pleased that the Consortium PowerPac Holdings Limited and KAJIMA Corporation, Japan have taken the prestigious project. "I hope the ground work of this project will be started by 2020 and by 2024 its structure will be visible," the RAJUK chairman said.

He disclosed that RAJUK has already requested National Professor Dr Jamilur Reza Chowdhury to assists the city development authority by providing his expert opinions.

He further said that the dream and the prestigious project will come true by the continuous coordination between RAJUK and the consortium of PowerPac-KAJIMA Corporation and their experts from home and abroad.
