Bahaddarhat MA Mannan flyover
It has been decided to hand over four flyovers in Chattogram city to Chattogram City Corporation (CCC), which were implemented and maintained under the Chattogram Development Authority (CDA). CDA chief Engineer Kazi Hassan-bin-Shams said the decision was taken at an inter-ministerial meeting on Wednesday.
He said that the Bahaddarhat MA Mannan flyover constructed at a cost of Tk 927.22 crore, Muradpur Akhtaruzzaman flyover, Dewanhat and Kadamtali flyovers are being handed over to the city corporation for beauty enhancement, repair and maintenance. The transfer process will be completed within the next 15 days.
City Mayor AJM Nasir Uddin and CDA Chairman M Zahirul Alam Dobhash were present at the meeting. The Prime Minister laid the foundation stone of the MA Mannan flyover project, which a kilometer long from Shulkhabhar in the city to Bahaddarhat. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina inaugurated the flyover on January, 2010 after competition of construction work under the supervision of Bangladesh Army. The flyover was constructed at a cost of Tk 147 crore.
The Prime Minister inaugurated the construction of the four-lane Akhtaruzzaman Chowdhury flyover from Muradpur to Lalkhan Bazar on 12 November of 2014. Construction work began on March of 2015. On September 1, 2017, the flyover was opened for vehicular traffic. The construction cost of the flyover is estimated at Tk 698 crore.
Construction of the flyover from Bot-tali Station to Dhaniyalapara on DT Road began in July 2012. It was inaugurated on December 7, 2015. It costs Tk 58.22 crore. The construction of the Dewanhat flyover began on 2011. Work was completed in 2012. The flyover was opened for vehicular traffic in 2013. The project cost was Tk 24 crore.
CDA's Chief Engineer Kazi Hassan-bin-Shams said the CDA constructed the flyovers but does not have maintenance equipment. So these flyovers are being handed over to CCC.
