Actress Shimu bags French film honor

Bangladeshi actress Reekita Nondine Shimu received the Prix d'Interprétation Féminine, or Women's Interpretation Award, in Festival de Saint -Jean-de-Luz, in France on Saturday. She received the award for her portrayal of a Bangladeshi garment worker in Rubaiyat Hossain directed film 'Made in Bangla-desh'.

'Made in Bangla-desh' depicts the strength and success of the working women in Bangladesh's apparel sector. The film also stars Deepanwita Mar-tin, Mayabe Rahman, Novera Rahman, Parvin Paru. Mostafa Monwar, Shatabdi Wadud, Jayraj, Momena Chow-dhury,Wahida Mallik Joly and Samina Lutfa.

Besides, Shimu recently represented Made in Bangladesh in the BFI London Film Festival where she took part in a Q&A session on behalf of the cast and crew of the film, which was screened at the festival on October 7 and 8. Reekita Nondine Shimu started her acting career in theatre troupe Tokai Nayta Dal. She made her silver screen debut with Tareque Masud's 'Runway' in 2010.

Later she acted in Imtiaz Bijon Ahmed's film 'Matir Projar Deshe' (2016) and Rubaiyat Hossain's Under Construction (2015).
