'Army being modernized as per Forces Goal 2030'

Referring to the need for the formation of a modern, time-befitting and powerful army, Army Chief General Aziz Ahmed said that the process of further modernization of Bangladesh Army is underway in light of 'Forces Goal 2030' under the patronage of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.

Apart from protecting the sovereignty of the country, army is also contributing significantly to the socio-economic and infrastructural development as well as working to safeguard the nation from natural and manmade disasters.

Bangladesh Army is making an unprecedented contribution to the development of the country's communication system and the Corps of Engineers is playing a leading role in this regard. In particular, the headquarters of the Engineer Construction Brigade is handling the implementation of the 'Border Road Project', he further said. 

General Aziz Ahmed made this remarks while delivering Regimental Colors to the 1st and 8th Engineer Battalions and 5th and 7th RE Battalions at Quadirabad Cantonment in Natore on Tuesday.

Commenting on the Army's willingness to be a partner in the socio-economic and infrastructural development of Bangladesh, the army chief said emphasizing on the basic training of Sappers members, "Advanced and realistic training is essential to keep up with modern technology." Therefore, the utmost importance should be given on basic training as well as training for maximum utilization of technological excellence."

General Aziz Ahmed said that receiving Regimental Color is a rare honor and sacred deposit for any unit. In order to maintain the dignity of the flag acquired in recognition of efficiency, hard work and duty, one must strive to make any sacrifice. Bangladesh Army is always prepared to deal with any situation to protect the country's independence and sovereignty,

Aziz Ahmed asserted. Shahidul Islam Bakul, Member of Parliament in Natore-3 constituency, Major General Saiful Alam, Bogra Area Commander of Bangladesh Army, AKM Hafiz Akter, DIG of Rajshahi Range, Lieutenant General Harun-On-Rashid (Retd), DC Natore Mohammed Shahriaz, SP Natore Liton Kumar Saha and senior officials of military and civil service were present on the occasion.
