Annual training of BAUJA inaugurated at IIFS

An-eight day-long annual training program titled 'Training on Agriculture in the Changing Climate' of Bangladesh Agricultural University (BAU) campus     organized by Bangladesh Agricultural University Journalist Association (BAUJA). Rseporters of various national dailies and online newspapers inaugurated at Interdisciplinary Institute for Food Security (IIFS) conference room on Friday morning.

On the inaugural program BAU Pro Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr Md Jasimuddin Khan addressed as chief guest while BAU Research System (BAURES) director Professor Dr Md Abu Hadi Nur Ali Khan, Proctor Professor Dr Md Azharul Hoque and general secretary of Mymensingh Press Club Sheikh Mohiuddin Ahmed were addressed as special guest.

Director Interdisciplinary Institute for Food Security (IIFS) Professor Dr Abusaleh Mahfuzul Bari addressed as chief patron. Associate director of IIFS Professor Dr Harunur Rashid presided over the program.

BAU Pro Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr Md Jasimuddin Khan said, 'Various wastes, the use of plastic and polythene, poisonous fumes and chemicals are playing a major role in changing the climate. Which is increasing day by day for the misconduct of the common people.

Agriculture and agricultural resources are suffering the most. Although Bangladesh has achieved self-sufficiency in food but food security is under threat. By training on this topic, journalists will be able to clearly explain the causes and solution of climate change in a fluent language in order to raise awareness among the common people of the society.'

General Secretary of BAU Journalists' Association Md Mushfiqur Rahman Sifat said, 'A training in Agriculture Journalism opens a plethora of career options such as becoming an agricultural client for advertising firms or a public relations practitioner for agricultural commodity organizations and businesses and our campus journalists will be the future ambassador of this sector.' 17 campus reporter of various national dailies and online newspapers will participate in the training program. The training program will continue till 15 November.
