A rare canvas by French artist Paul Gauguin from his period on the Polynesian island of Tahiti has fetched 9.5 million euros (US$10.5 million) in Paris, the auction house behind the sale said Tuesday.
The painting “Te Bourao II“, which went for nearly twice its estimated value, is one of the few works from Gauguin’s Tahiti period still in private hands. --AFP
