Bangladesh bright instance of religious harmony: Liton


Mayor of Rajshahi City Corporation AHM Khairuzzaman Liton on Monday said the present Bangladesh has set a bright instance of religious harmony in the world.

He said people of all faiths are now living in the country with peace and tranquility as the present government under the dynamic leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is pledged bound to establish religious harmony everywhere in the society. Liton made this observation while addressing a sharing workshop on building religious peace harmony hosted by the Asia Foundation at a restaurant in the city as the chief guest, reports BSS.

Additional Superintendent of Police Ifte Khayer Alam, Assistant Superintendent of Police Abdur Razzaque, Editor of Daily Sonar Desh Akbarul Hassan Millat and Director of Rajshahi Chamber of Commerce and Industry Sadrul Islam also spoke with Asia Foundation Director Sadat Sadruddin Shibly in the chair. Mayor Liton said a responsive and positive role by all quarters is very important for maintaining peace and religious and social harmony.

He said for the sake of building the nation as a peaceful motherland, all conscious, patriotic and peace-loving people should come forward and work together.

Liton also said the nation would get rid of conflicts and confusion if the people of the society as well as the state machineries took a positive approach to establish peace and amity from their own position. The mass-people should take steps to build a national unity to free the nation from the clutches of conflicts, feud and violence as the present government has been working relentlessly for ensuring peace and communal harmony, he added.

Liton added that the government attaches the highest priority to all development sectors including education and youth and sports for boosting the sectors with skilled human resources.
