Ferdous Ara to perform at NY Banga Sammelan

For the first time, a Bangladeshi artist has been invited to perform at Madison Square Garden. Ferdous Ara, the country's famous Nazrul Sangeet singer, is going to perform at the 36th North American Bengali Conference (NABC) which is going to take place at the Madison Square Garden, New York from July 1 to 3. Famous artistes, litterateurs and cultural activists from different parts of the world will gather together in this conference. The conference is also known as the Banga Sammelan. Ferdous Ara will be performing a solo at this event. Her performance will take place at MSG's Hammerstein Ballroom.

This year the conference will feature networking opportunities, social gatherings, reunions, film screenings, theatres, literary readings and cultural performances. The goal of this year's Banga Sammelan is to shift the archetype of conferences from a focus on socialization and entertainment to an emphasis on the exchange of ideas to inspire the next generation and leave a legacy for the future. The theme for this year is to conquer all differences, think beyond negativities and extend the practice of Bangla culture outside of Bangladesh.

Banga Sammelan organized every year by Cultural Association of Bengal, is known as North American Bengali Conference or NABC by short name, is an annual conference held in North America to celebrate Bengali culture, highlight Bengal's diverse arts and crafts, showcase industry and help build its global profile. It is the largest such gathering outside of India, mostly attended by few thousands NRI Bengali's from US and Canada, with well-known artists, distinguished personalities and industrialists from all over the world.

It is one of the first annual conferences for people of South Asian descent in North America. Since its inception in 1981 in New York City under the sponsorship of Cultural Association of Bengal (CAB), it has spread to several cities all over the United States and Canada. The Conference provides a global platform to artists and entertainers to enchant and delight an expatriate audience and also to advertisers and merchants who promote their products and services to attendees. Thus they can augment their brand through active sponsorship of the conference.
