17-week Asian Film Retrospective began on Saturday at the Digital Archive room of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy, showing the Bengali classic film Ghuddi.
Organized by Moviyana Film Society in cooperation with the academy, the festival features a total of 65 films by 56 directors from 19 Asian countries including Bangladesh, India, Japan, Saudi Arabia, Bhutan, Iraq and Afghanistan.
Eminent director Salauddin Zaki inaugurated the event as chief guest with noted director Morshedul Islam and Lailun Nahar, president of the Federation of Film Societies of Bangladesh, in attendance. Belayat Hossain Mamun, general secretary of Moviyana Film Society, said the retrospective was dedicated to eminent actor Raisul Islam Asad and coincided to mark his 64th birth anniversary, which was observed on Friday.
