School ground flooded after a little rain

 
A school ground of Saturia Pilot Government High School under the upazila in Manikganj district becomes flooded after a little rain. Though a drain has been constructed for drainage of water, the mouth of the drain is closed and if it rains a little, water-logging is taken place on the school premises.

Visiting the spot, it was seen that the school premises went under knee-deep water due to last night's rain. The local administration set up a market of daily commodities in this field during the corona pandemic to prevent the infection corona. Due to the current water-logging situation, the traders are conducting business in the previous place. Abdur Rahim, a kitchen market trader in Saturia Bazar, said, "We are forced to sell goods at the same place at the risk of coronavirus infection due to water-logging in the school grounds."

Chairman of Saturia Union Parishad Md Anwar Hossain Pintu, said that although a drain was constructed for drainage at a cost of Tk 20 lakh, the chairman of the neighboring Amta Union Md Abul Hossain has closed the mouth of the drain by dumping soil. As a result, if it rains a little, the road in front of Saturia Bazar, Dakbanglo, including the grounds of Saturia Pilot Government High School, get flooded which creates water-logging.

Md Jasim Uddin, headmaster of Saturia Pilot Government High School, said "Although a drain was constructed to drain the water in the field, the mouth of the drain was closed and if it rains a little, water-logging is taken place on the school premises. The headmaster alleged that the people of the area had closed the mouth of the drain by throwing various garbage, as the mouth of the drain was located in Amta Union of Dhamrai Upazila. Amta Union Chairman Md Abul Hossain refused the allegation of closing the mouth of the drain. When asked if the people in your area have closed the mouth of the drain by throwing various garbage, he said I do not know about it.
